My mom has suffered from insomnia. She does not like taking sleeping pills even if that means that she has to stay awake for multiple nights in a stretch. She is the reason I am always asking people and reading online for some natural sleep remedies. Here are four of them that have worked well with her and a few other people I know.

1. Cherry juice may help you sleep better. A
study has shown that cherry is a natural source of melatonin, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Drink a tablespoon of tart cherry juice before bedtime to sleep better.

2. Ashwagandha, also known as Indian Ginseng, is one of the most widespread herbs used in India. Ayurveda practitioners have been using it for thousands of years in oral and topical preparations to treat variety of health disorders. It strengthens the immune system, relieves stress and is a natural sedative. It is available in form of powder and capsules in health stores.
Pregnant women should not take ashwagandha. Talk to your doctor before you start with the treatment.

3. Essentials oils can help you sleep better in a number of ways. Lavender oil can treat anxiety, headache, and nervous tension while promoting a sound sleep. Diffuse them into air before bedtime or combine with a good carrier oil like almond or coconut oil, and massage onto back, legs, feet and arms.

4. Take a teaspoon of raw honey before sleep. Dr.Ron Fessendon has
written about how honey is much more than a natural sweetener: it will sustain blood sugar and liver glycogen through the night and induce a deeper and restful sleep.
