Many people struggle every day with weight problems. In many cases, this is due to people eating large amounts of unhealthy junk food. When people go to a party, it is common for them to stuff their mouths full of chips, candy and other foods that contain large amounts of sugar and salt. There is no question that these foods are extremely tasty. However, they have almost no nutritional value whatsoever, not to mention the fact that they can contribute to gaining a significant amount of weight.

Fortunately, there are many healthy snack alternatives available that taste good and actually benefit the body, instead of helping to destroy it. Along with being low in calories, these healthy snacks can give a person an energy boost during the day if they need it. Asian and Indian inspired snacks are gaining in popularity because of their great taste and healthy ingredients. Here are a few of the great Asian and Indian snacks that are available for you to try:

1. Aloo palak paratha

Aloo

Aloo palak paratha is a delicious flatbread that commonly has mashed potatoes, chopped spinach or leafy greens stuffed inside of it.

2. Lobhia

This is a yummy and healthy snack that has its origins in India's northern region. After a batch of black-eyed beans has been cooked and soaked for a significant period of time, the beans are then boiled in a tomato gravy that has a tangy taste to it. Afterwards, spices are combined into the mixture. The amount of spices will depend on the taste preference of each person.

3. Raita

Aloo

This snack is simple to make. All you need to do is add any fruits or veggies you want to a bowl of beaten curds.

4. Chickpea curry and spinach

Rajma

Rajma

This is another snack originally made popular in India's northern region. A gravy is made with the use of several different spices. Red kidney beans are then added to the gravy mixture. This particular snack has several great advantages. First of all, it only contains 120 calories and has four grams of protein for a 100 gram serving.

6. Idly

Aloo

Fermented rice is steamed to create this dal mixture. This is an ideal snack for people who want to make sure they are getting their proper daily amount of protein. Another one of the key benefits of idly is the fact that it does not contain a large amount of fat. People who are looking for a snack that is easily digested should choose this one.

7. Paneer

Paneer is often referred to as the vegetarian's chicken. It does not contain very many calories. This is surprising when you consider the fact that milk is the primary ingredient. You can make it with either full cream or toned milk. This will determine how many calories it has.

8. Crunchy seasoned peas

Crunchy seasoned peas are combined with various aromatic spices. It is all-natural and usually contains turmeric, chillies, paprika, coriander and cumin. There is no gluten, cholesterol or trans fat in this snack.

9. Bhuja cracker mix
