Buttermilk is a milk product, it is the whey left behind when cream is churned to make butter. This liquid is a light, fat-free, low calorie drink that is full of good gut bacteria.

Nowadays, buttermilk is made by fermenting milk and we can very easily prepare it in the comfort of our home. It can be had by itself with just a dash of salt, or seasoned as per liking.
It is a healthy coolant in summer, as opposed to soft drinks which are laden with sugar and preservatives - its probiotic nature helps improve digestion. Read on for how to make this humble drink. Measurements are approximate. You can adjust as per taste. The following will make 2 tall glasses.
Ingredients
The ingredients listed below are for seasoning and optional.
Mint and coriander leaves, fistful of each
water or ice cubes to adjust consistency.
Method
In a blender, add half the yogurt along with mint and coriander leaves, fennel seeds and cumin seeds. Blend it together.
Now add remaining yogurt and ice. If not using ice, add 1/2 cup water. Blend together.
Buttermilk has a thin consistency, so add water/ice to adjust the consistency. Add salt as per taste.
The seasonings give a yummy taste to buttermilk and the mint leaves aid in digestion. You can have this preparation daily along with, or after meals.
