Cashews: A complete guide

One of the most popular nuts in the world, cashews are loved for their sweet, creamy flavour, and their ability to be added to a variety of dishes and cuisines.

Believed to have originated in Brazil and then introduced in other countries by the Portuguese, cashews grow on the underside of the cashew apple, which itself hangs from the very tall cashew trees.

Health benefits
Rich source of copper, required to eliminate free radicals from the body.
Good source of phosphorous, influencing bone strength and metabolism.
Good source of manganese, needed to combat infection.
Good source of zinc, supporting skin health and linked to relieving acne.
Good source of iron, preventing against fatigue and anemia.
Good source of protein, so a wise addition to vegan or plant-based diets.

How to enjoy
Simply grab a handful for a snack on the go.
Enjoy sprinkled over porridge, granola or muesli.
Toss through a veggie stir fry.
Roughly chop and add to cake, biscuit, slice or energy ball batters.
Blend with coconut oil to make a healthy, homemade nut butter spread.

Cashews are best stored in an airtight container in the fridge (for up to 6 months), or freezer (for up to a year).
