This vibrant smoothie packs a powerful nutrient punch, loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre and essential fatty acids. The healthy fats release energy slowly and provide three times more energy than simple sugars, making this the perfect start to a busy day. Get the low down on chia seeds here.

Ingredients
1 teaspoon dark chia seeds
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice)
1 cup mixed berries (any of your choice)
1/4 of an avocado (or 1/2 banana)
2 teaspoons cacao powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed
1 fresh pitted date or 1 teaspoon of honey to sweeten
Cacao nibs to garnish (optional)

Method
Soak the chia seeds in the water for twenty to thirty minutes - this step is optional but the chia seeds will soften and take on a more gelatinous texture.

Add all ingredients to the blender and mix for a good minute or two until a smooth consistency is reached.
Garnish with cacao nibs to serve and enjoy.
