I discovered this recipe a few months back and was quite surprised by the speed of its efficacy in helping my acne. This DIY turmeric facial scrub left my skin silky with an instant glow. It is also known to fade black spots when used regularly.

The recipe below has been used for years by Indian brides as a head to toe scrub on the eve of their wedding for brighter and smoother skin.

DIY Facial scrub

Ingredients

2 teaspoon gram flour (chickpea/besan flour)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon almond powder
Few drops of olive oil or black cumin seed oil
2 tablespoons milk or plain yogurt

All ingredients needed

Method

Mix everything until you obtain a smooth paste.

Mix to form a smooth paste

Clean and wash your face and apply evenly.

Leave to dry on your skin for 15 minutes.

Wash away.

And don't worry, your face will not tint with the turmeric.

Some helpful properties of the mask

Turmeric has multiple health properties. Apart from being added to dishes for taste and color, it can also be applied on painful areas for its anti-inflammatory properties, or be mixed with other ingredients for a flawless skin. Being a powerful antioxidant, it also helps fight cancer.

Rich in essential fatty acids like linoleic and linolenic acids, the black seed oil or Nigella Sativa oil helps keep your skin youthful and radiant. For those having an oily skin, use 1 or 2 drops. Otherwise, regular use of the scrub without the oil will leave your skin dry and itchy.

Manganese in chickpeas fight wrinkles while Molybdenum detoxifies the skin. Folate and vitamin B repair damage from the sun and harmful toxins.

Milk contains lactic acid which helps improve skin's texture by shedding of dead skin cells and replenishing moisture.

As for the almond powder, its tiny particles exfoliate the skin by removing dead cells from the outer layer, revealing a silky skin with a lovely glow.

This recipe, being quite easy to concoct and budget friendly, is certainly worth trying and is a sure way to save money on expensive skin care treatment.
