Make your own honey and lemon tea


If you have a cold or the flu, it can be tempting to reach for a pharmaceutical quick fix. These rarely work and if they do, they can sometimes simply mask the effects of being ill, rather than work effectively on the cause. Not to mention the high price tag that usually accompanies such products.

This is where natural ingredients like honey and lemon are useful. They have been used for centuries, with great results. Honey has antibacterial properties and helps to sooth a sore throat, lemon contains vitamin C to help boost the immune system and black tea is a powerful antioxidant.

Next time you feel a cold coming on, why not try making some of this homemade honey and lemon tea to ease your discomfort.

All you need is:

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons raw honey
1 teabag

Steep the teabag in hot water, then add the lemon juice and honey to taste. You may need to add more or less depending on your preferences.
