Adding strawberries to your diet is an easy way to improve your nutrition and health. They are delicious, full of vitamins, nutrients and have surprising health benefits.

These versatile berries can be eaten fresh, cooked, dried, pickled or frozen and can be added to meals throughout the day.

Breakfast
A simple way to increase your daily fibre, folate and vitamin C intake is to add strawberries on top of cereal at breakfast.

The low GI value of strawberries helps to stabilise blood sugars, which makes you feel full for longer.

If you don’t like cereal, adding strawberries to a fruit salad with Greek yoghurt is a good alternative that will also give you a protein boost.

Snacks
Smoothies are a great mid-morning or afternoon snack to help cure hunger pangs and aid with digestion. Try a strawberry spice or a
strawberry cacao smoothie.

Fruit kebabs and frozen yoghurt dipped strawberries also make great snacks.

They can also be added to cakes, pancakes and crepes, breads and muffins for a sweet treat.

Lunch
It may sound unusual but these delicious berries can be added to salads for lunch. Sliced fresh, pickled or balsamic strawberries can be added on top of salads. Romaine lettuce and strawberries make a great tasting combination.

A homemade preservative and sugar free jam can be made quickly by blending strawberries and spread on toast or sandwich bread.

Dinner
Drying cut strawberries in a low oven, grinding and adding to breadcrumbs makes a delicious crumb for chicken, turkey or fish.

Serving a small fruit salad with spicy meals helps to cool the mouth.

For those wanting a bit of tang, soak strawberries in basalmic vinegar and add to salads. A strawberry sauce is delicious on white meats.

Dessert
Strawberry and banana ice-cream can be made in minutes for a quick and nutritious dessert.

Homemade frozen strawberry yoghurt bark and coconut, strawberry & chia pudding can be made in advance.

Crepes with maple glazed strawberries and
upside down strawberry cake make tasty desserts.

For me nothing beats strawberries dipped in chocolate; my favourite dessert!
