There's a school of thought that a great number of things can be learned by simply taking a concentrated look at ones eyes.

If you've ever considered visiting an iridology practitioner, here's what you can expect.

Iridology is the analysis of the patterns and structure of your iris, which is the coloured portion of your eye. By doing this, practitioners are able to determine areas of concern within the body while revealing the body's health levels, inherent strengths and weaknesses, and potential red flags.

Practitioners have determined a relevant connection between the iris' markings and certain ailments of the body, and an iridology chart was produced for reference. Over the years, it has progressed into a refined alternative medicine that is practiced more and more.

How does it work? The iris is complex and is composed of hundreds of thousands of nerve endings which are connected by impulses to every tissue within the body through the brain and nervous system. These fibres respond to both tissue and organ conditions with a corresponding response manifested in the iris, such as markings and colour variations. Specialists pay close attention to the patterns, colour variations and degrees of colour.

An iris chart is similar to a map, where it represents the placement (in very basic form) of bodily organs and tissues. By superimposing the chart over an image of your iris, an analysis is obtained and allows for detailed observations of current and past health issues, as well as raising the alarm for potential dangers.

Iridology can only reveal so much however, it cannot locate previous surgery due to nerve impulses not existing anymore. It also cannot reveal things like gallstones, germs or parasites within the body. It can however show any potential diseases before they actually begin and can be a great preventative measure.

The process is simple and painless and often a less-expensive option for many. Iridology can also help an individual better understand a healthier way of life, together with any weaknesses that may be present and which should be nurtured. Often alternatives such as homeopathy or traditional medicines are used to treat illnesses after iridology has been preformed - thus keeping the whole procedure clean, natural, and healthy.
