There is a growing number of health professionals and everyday people who understand that illness is self-created, and the bodily signs and symptoms that we experience are our body's way of communicating to us that there is an imbalance somewhere in our being.
One of the most widely discussed examples of this today is the notion that deep seated guilt, resentment and grief lead to cancer. Motivational author and metaphysicist Louise Hay experienced this first-hand when she was diagnosed with cancer of the vagina, refused conventional treatment, and set about healing herself through a variety of therapies that centred around changing the mental pattern that created the cancer - Hay recognised the resentment she held from being raped and beaten as a small girl.
Metaphysical healing comes from looking at the mental cause for physical illness; next time you get that recurring headache, or burn yourself, or experience a backache, rather than running to the doctor or pharmacist for a 'cure', stop and think about why these things are happening - what message is your body trying to give you.

Today in the rush for a quick fix, we run the risk of ignoring the body's messages, and creating deeper illness through the overuse of pharmaceutical drugs, which are not capable of eliciting a true cure, merely temporarily removing the very signs and symptoms our body is trying to bring to our attention.
