Facials are one of the best ways to pamper yourself with some much needed 'me time'. But not all of us have the time or budget for a spa session; here's how I give myself a mini facial at home, and it always makes my skin feel a lot smoother and softer afterwards.
1. Make a face mask from the following recipe courtesy of Alia and set it aside:
2 teaspoon gram flour (chickpea/besan flour)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon almond powder
Few drops of olive oil or black cumin seed oil
2 tablespoons milk or plain yogurt
Mix up the ingredients in a coloured bowl (it stains so don't use a white one) and set it aside.
3. Boil some water and soak a facial towel in it (add 1-2 drops of lavendar essential oil to the water if you want to relax).
Squeeze the water out of the towel (careful water is hot) and place the hot towel on your face (with eyes closed) for five minutes. Repeat again if you want but 5 minutes is fine.
4. Using a cotton wipe spread the facial mask on your face (it should be the consistency of a runny paste). Leave it on your face for 10 or 15 minutes or until mask dries. Add a pair of sliced cool cumbers over your eyes whilst you wait for the mask to dry. This will help reduce puffiness around the eye area.
5. Once the mask is 'crackly' wash your face in warm water and voila, you're done! Now put on your favourite moisturiser and you will feel soft, smooth skin.
This mini facial is also great for that little bit of sprucing just before a date. You'll also use less make up as you'll want to show off that glowing skin!
I usually give myself this facial once every fortnight but once a week or once a month is also fine; try it, you’ll feel the smooth soft texture of natural smooth glowing skin.
