These
juicy, distinctively coloured orbs are a celebration of all things
summer. Originally native to
China, peaches are now a staple fruit around the world, and for
good reason.
There are two varieties of peach:
freestone and
clingstone (referring to how easily the
stone separates from the fruit), and they come with either
yellow or
white flesh.
A
ripe peach will
give gently to touch,
is evenly coloured and aromatic.

Good source of vitamin A, aiding healthy vision.
Good source of potassium, preventing bone loss, kidney stones and balancing blood pressure.
High in fibre, increasing feelings of satiety.

How to enjoy
Chopped and mixed with other seasonal fruits in a fresh fruit salad.
Baked atop sweet pastries, pies and cakes.
Enjoy for breakfast over yoghurt, in a smoothie, or over homemade granola.
Skewered and barbecued in a sweet or savoury kebab.
Diced and tossed through a salsa or salad with lemon juice and extra-virgin olive oil.
