Spirulina - a blue/green algae - doesn’t necessarily sound like something you may want to add to your next smoothie; however, this micro-green has rightly earned the term ‘superfood’ due to its impressive vitamin and mineral content.

Packed with protein, amino acids, chlorophyll, iron, calcium, B-vitamins, and other essential antioxidants, it is claimed to help everything from boosting immunity to preventing cancer.

Spirulina can be added to water, smoothies and juices, sprinkled over cereal, or incorporated into salad dishes or baked goods.
