Next time you're packing your gym bag, be sure to include your iPod and headphones!

A recent study has proven that listening to music while you workout can boost your athletic performance by up to 15 per cent.

This is because your mind is distracted from its physical exertion, which enables your body to push past typical limitations.

Music also helps you pace your workout to a decisive rhythm, pace and timing.

It can also influence your mood, so listening to uplifting music will increase your motivation and energy in the gym.

Create a playlist of your favourite inspirational tunes, for use in the gym!
