Type 2 diabetes could almost be considered an epidemic in Australia; the Diabetes Australia website offers some staggering statistics, including an estimation that 280 Australians develop diabetes every single day.

Thousands of Australians currently have pre-diabetes without even being aware of it. Diet and lifestyle are key to the prevention of diabetes, even more so if you are overweight, lead a sedentary lifestyle and eat a diet high in sugar, processed foods and unhealthy fats.

You can drastically reduce the risk of developing diabetes simply by following a healthy eating plan, maintaining a healthy weight, and being physically active. For help on how to get started, consult a health practitioner.
