Quick Tip #63: How to manage ingrown toenails

Ingrown toenails are a common and painful condition causing difficulty in walking. If left unattended it can cause infection of the nail and surrounding skin.

To prevent ingrowths, always keep your feet and nails clean. Cut the nails in a flat manner and don't dip it at the corners as we would for fingernails. Also, do not cut the nail at skin level and always let it grow a bit.

If you are prone to ingrowths, use wider footwear to give room to your toes. Also, soak your feet in warm water with salt for 20 minutes regularly and keep them well moisturised.
