A recent systematic review published in Nutrition Reviews has confirmed the potential benefits of seaweed consumption on human health.
The review did cite the fact that the majority of studies have thus far been carried out on animals and in labs, and there is a lack of evidence from human trials, but concluded there is sufficient evidence to support the notion that seaweed has beneficial effects on human health.
Purported health benefits include anticancer and antiviral properties, a moderating effect on intestinal health, and a reduction in risk factors for diabetes and obesity.
To help reduce your risk of chronic disease, get some seaweed into your diet today.
