Feeling down or emotionally drained? Smiling or laughing may literally be the last thing you want to do, but can surprisingly provide what you need to right yourself.

It may seem a like a nonsensical idea, but research has shown that even artificially smiling or laughing can actually lift your mood.

If pulling funny faces or forcing yourself to laugh doesn’t appeal to you, try watching 10 minutes of a funny video, or have a chat with a naturally amusing person. For the more adventurous, try laughing yoga or join a laughter club!
