Raw Nut Butter

Nut butters are actually a high protein, tasty and versatile, good-fats rich snack, but the added sugar and salts (among other preservatives) found in commercial products, counter these beneficial nutrients.

Fortunately it is super easy to make your own, and any nut can be used according to your preference. You can even try a mix of nuts of you are feeling adventurous!

Minutes 20

Ingredients
2 cups unsalted nuts (cashews, almonds or walnuts work best)
1 tablespoon coconut oil

Method
Using a food processor, blitz nuts until a fine crumble has formed.



Add the oil and continue to blend for 10-20 mins or until a creamy, consistent butter has formed.

Thanks for this. I actually make it using only the nuts (cashews) as ingredients. If you process them long enough, you get a smooth paste. So for me, I don't need the additional oil.

Thanks for your thoughts! You are totally right, you can just use nuts if you wish, however adding oil does speed up the process and prevent running the risk of the motor blowing from too much use.

I also love the slight coconut hint as well, but yes, that is a great suggestion!
