Nut butters are actually a high protein, tasty and versatile, good-fats rich snack, but the added sugar and salts (among other preservatives) found in commercial products, counter these beneficial nutrients.
Fortunately it is super easy to make your own, and any nut can be used according to your preference. You can even try a mix of nuts of you are feeling adventurous!
Ingredients 2 cups unsalted nuts (cashews, almonds or walnuts work best)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Using a food processor, blitz nuts until a fine crumble has formed.
Add the oil and continue to blend for 10-20 mins or until a creamy, consistent butter has formed.
