In all seriousness, this has been the most time-saving tip in my messy kitchen.

This is my typical morning: throw some eggs on the stove, get the kids (husband and poinsettia plant) ready for the day, pick out something suitable to wear, and rush off to work. Somewhere in that time-frame I am reminded that I have something cooking! Too late. Scorched.



After yelling out some unmentionables...I throw the pot into the sink and run off to work.

Sometimes its salvageable, other times...R.I.P. free-range eggs that are a stinking 50 cents each (and one time R.I.P beloved Dutch oven).



Before discovering this little secret I would seriously use spoons or knives to scrub those scorched eggs off the pan. Soaking them in water didn't do a flipping thing.

One day it hit me...throw some baking soda (awesome cleaner) and water in there and boil it.

It worked!

After boiling for just a few minutes the scorched food came right off - I just washed the pan as normal...NO SCRUBBING!

I've used this trick for lightly scorched food to heavily scorched food. For heavily scorched you just have to boil for a while longer. For really bad you may need to boil on low for about thirty minutes.

This trick will save you time, energy, and your cute little (or sausagey) fingers.
