Smoothies don't come much better than this one which can act as a sweet start to the day, a mid-morning snack, or an afternoon pick-me-up. Delicious and nutritious it is packed full of antioxidants, dietary fibre, iron, magnesium and vitamins C and B6.
1/2 large banana or 1 small
10 small strawberries or 6 large
1 pitted date (or a teaspoon of honey)
1 teaspoon cacao powder
1 cup milk of your choice
Soak the date for a few minutes in boiling water to soften.
Add all ingredients to the blender and mix until a smooth consistency is reached.
Serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top.
Protein variation Substitute the milk with 1 cup of water and a handful of raw almonds soaked overnight for a protein boost. Alternatively add a raw egg, or a tablespoon of LSA.
