Tahini is often known for its place in making hummus, but there are many reasons to enjoy tahini in its own right.

A Middle Eastern and Mediterranean staple, tahini is simply a paste of soaked and blended sesame seeds - much like (raw) peanut butter is of peanuts.

Opt for unhulled, raw and organic varieties wherever possible to ensure you are getting the most nutrient-rich product, or try making your own.

How to enjoy
Make your own homemade hummus or baba ganoush with a healthy dollop of tahini.
Enjoy a tablespoon or two with some fresh veggie sticks.
Drizzle over a veggie or pasta salad instead of a commercial dressing.
Mix into slices, cakes, muffins, brownies and cookies for a creamy, nutty flavour.
Blend into fruit smoothies for a delectable thickness and protein boost.
Swirl over your morning porridge, or spread on toast as you would peanut butter.
