This natural haircare recipe is quick and easy to make, inexpensive, alcohol-free and gives my curls shine and definition.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 200 ml approximately

Ingredients
  • ΒΌ cup flaxseeds (also known as linseed)
  • 2 cups water
  • Essential oils (optional)
  • Vitamin E oil (optional)

  • You will need
  • 1 small saucepan
  • Kitchen tongs
  • Stocking or tights
  • A container with a lid

  • Method
  • Mix the flaxseeds and water in a saucepan on med-high heat. Stir continuously.
  • As the water begins to boil, the liquid will thicken and foam. Stop stirring and turn off the heat.
  • Strain the contents through a clean stocking into your container. Use a pair of tongs towards the end to squeeze through as much gel as possible.
  • Add a few drops of vitamin E oil and 3 drops of your favourite scented essential oils and mix thoroughly.
  • Your hair gel is now ready to use!
  • You can reuse the flaxseeds for one more batch. Cover and store both in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
