If you're suffering from facial blemishes such as blackheads, spots and uneven tone, it's likely caused by excess sebum on your pores and skin. Sebum is a natural oil that is produced by your body to protect, lubricate and keep your skin healthy, but if your body produces too much, spots will appear.
Having healthy skin is important as it's our first line of defence against any infections that could enter the body. Additionally, having a clear complexion is great for your self image and confidence.
There are an enormous number of chemically based products available on the market that can cleanse your face, but if you prefer natural ways or home remedies for cleansing your skin, many holistic practitioners believe that peppermint tea can actually assist.

Peppermint or mentha piperita makes a delicious and healthy herbal tea with a pleasant aroma. To make as a tea, peppermint can be used alone but it can also be combined with other herbs, which can enhance its flavor and uses. Peppermint has many uses because of its high level of menthol.
So how does it correlate with clear skin? The menthol that is the basic element in peppermint can be used to lower the secretion of oil from your body's sebaceous glands. Less oil = clearer skin. Additionally, menthol produces a cooling effect which can help ease the redness and swelling of existing blemishes. The cooling property of peppermint will also further reduce skin that's been irritated with insect bites, rashes, inflammation and burns.
How do you now use peppermint tea to help clear or maintain clear skin? When you brew the tea, make sure you don't use sugar as it will work against clear skin. This tea is known to boost blood circulation, giving your skin a vibrant glow as well as clearing your mind.
