Living a Grateful Life

Gratitude is thankfulness and appreciation. It is about what you have, right now. It is not about what you want or need.

"Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance", Eckhardt Tolle - A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.

You may find it hard to be happy if you are always looking to the future, to that trip you are taking next year, to the end of your mortgage payments that won't be done for six months. Or if you're always thinking of the things that you don't have.

What do you see when you look around you right now? What do you have to be grateful for?

Be grateful for family with all their quirks

How about the computer you are using? The electricity it takes to power the computer. How about Benjamin Franklin, the scientist who explored electricity that allows us the internet, television, lights? These are all things to be grateful for.

How about having two hands, a body that allows you to sit, stand, bend, run? Our eyes with which we see, our ears that we hear with are all things to be grateful for. Color - our world comes in Technicolor!

Be grateful for nature in all its splendor

How about the sky from where the sun shines and the rain falls? How about the stars that twinkle like diamonds in a midnight setting?

Be grateful for the beauty of it all

We can be grateful for the water that just came out of the tap, the feel of the grass below bare feet, a nose to smell the sweet scents of flowers or that wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen.

Music to listen to that makes you happy and reminds you of that teenage love you once had or music that gets you up dancing. This surely is something to be grateful for.

We have so much. We have ourselves. Every single day and then more comes along.

How about your children and the wonders they perceive every day? Look through their eyes. What about their gratitude for you?

Be grateful for the heights our children reach

Make a list. Write down, "I am grateful for:" and fill it up. Take your time, there is no right or wrong.

Sometimes it is easier than it sounds to be grateful. With a little practice you can be grateful and live a happy life.

If you need help with this read Eckhardt Tolle's book (mentioned above) or go online. There are huge amounts of information regarding gratitude.

There is a 30 day challenge that is meant for the work place. Are you in need of a change at work? Maybe this is the key. It may even work for you in other settings.

There are quotes meant to help get you through some tough times. If you search "gratitude" you will come up with an abundance of inspirational information.

Be grateful for the roads we travel

Be grateful that Louie Schwartzberg - slow motion photographer, decided to make and share his masterpiece entitled 'Nature.Beauty.Gratitude' . If you do nothing else this stunning piece of video will show you a few things that are worth being grateful for.
