For many years, 'minimalism' was a tag largely used to refer to art, design and literature that was simple and sparse. White canvases with a single red stroke, or a sleek IKEA chair perhaps.

Now however, minimalism has become a buzz word in the Western world for an intriguing and inviting way of life - in direct opposition to the prevalent 'must-be-busy', consumerist path.

At its heart, minimalism is about living more consciously. As a result, minimalists can take many shapes and sizes - there is no 'one-size-fits-all'.

Minimalism invites us to discern and cultivate what is important to us, and free ourselves from the superfluous excess - whether in regards to our work, health, relationships etc.
