My experiments with natural shampoo alternatives part 2

My experiments with natural shampoo alternatives part 2

Posted 2015-04-29 by BKfollow
The last time I tried the baking soda method , I was extremely happy with the results. I did not have to wash my hair for 5 days. There are a few things I realised:

• A shower cap can save my hair from getting fully wet, but it does get an unwanted hot steam spa everyday while I am in a hot shower. It could be a combined result of sweat and water that ends up making my hair look greasy.

• If cooking can make the cupboards greasy, I am sure it is doing the same for my hair too.

• Wrapping a cotton scarf below the shower cap and while cooking does help in keeping my hair less greasy.

As much as I loved the baking soda method, I did not want to do it more than once a month, so I was looking for other options. Gram flour was the first thing that came to my mind. I had used it years ago, but always followed by regular shampoo. This time I was going to try it without shampoo.

Method

Mix gram flour with yogurt and water to form a batter like consistency. It should not be like a paste making it difficult to apply on your hair strands. Apply it all over your hair and scalp. Leave it for 5-7 minutes. Wash it off with cool water. Follow this with a lemon or apple cider vinegar rinse.

Result

My hair looked oil free and bouncy. This method is safe, very gentle, and as effective as any shampoo to clean all hair types.
