My favourite green smoothie recipe

Do yourself and your health a favour and get on board the green smoothie bandwagon. I've experimented with many different flavours and combinations over time, and settled on this one as my absolute favourite and go-to green smoothie. The banana and avocado give it a delicious creaminess that is lacking in many green smoothie recipes, and it is an absolute powerhouse of nutrients.



Ingredients
  • Kale - one piece, leaves only (discard stalk)
  • Celery - around an 8cm piece
  • One whole kiwi fruit cut into chunks
  • Half a banana
  • Quarter of an avocado
  • Couple of parsley sprigs
  • Few slices of cucumber
  • Quarter teaspoon of fresh ginger zest
  • Enough water to just cover the ingredients in the blender

  • Optional: I add two teaspoons of LSA and a sprinkling of green protein powder. And if you prefer it a little sweeter you can add half an apple or pear.



    Method
  • Simply add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

  • Try to incorporate a green smoothie recipe into your diet to give your health and immunity a powerful boost. It may be the last thing you feel like in winter but I add the water half room temperature and half boiling for a warm smoothie - you just have to drink it fairly quickly while it's still warm - it's delicious and it will make you feel fantastic!

    Tips
  • Some of the ingredients are on the Environmental Working Group's Dirty Dozen list (produce most heavily sprayed with pesticides) and should be purchased organically grown where possible.

  • If you find you can't manage a green smoothie each day but still want to boost your health, try an Antioxidant super smoothie or a Chia choc berry super smoothie .
