It’s a well know fact that dietary choices we make on a daily basis have a huge impact upon our health. Here are five foods that every woman could benefit from.

1. Green colored vegetables

You see them in any salad. They are recommended by dietitians for almost any diet, be it for weight loss purposes or for a health related issue, and this is not without reason. They help the body fight a number of diseases, and they represent a great source of energy. Leafy greens like spinach, watercress, lettuce, rocket and silverbeet are a great choice for women who want to maintain their silhouette, stay fit and healthy. This does not mean that you should give up everything else. A healthy diet is a balanced one. Just avoid trans fats and a big intake of carbohydrates, and make sure you include some raw green colored vegetables in your diet. If you are not having a salad, spice your dish with some herbs like basil and parsley. They will add flavor and they will help you preserve your health.

2. Oats

This is not restricted to oatmeal. Dietitians recommend including oats in your dishes because of the their beta-glucan content. Beta-glucan is a soluble fiber that prevents cholesterol absorption through the small intestine. The higher the intake of oats, the better for your cholesterol level.

3. Green Tea

The benefits of green tea have been long studied. Research shows that green tea is helpful in the fight against cancer and heart issues, because of its concentration of polyphenols and flavonoids. These antioxidants help your body to burn fat faster and reduce the amount of free radicals - substances with a proven influence upon the aging process. Dietitians recommend drinking at least one cup of green tea a day for better health and a younger look.

4. Omega-3s
Essential fatty acids with positive effects upon the circulatory, immune, and nervous systems, omega-3s can be found in some species of fish, especially salmon, in flaxseed and walnuts. They have a stimulating effect upon the immune system speeding up the production of disease fighting cells. Recent research has shown an omega-3 rich diet improves heart health.

5. Fruits

All dietitians will tell you that it is advisable to eat more fruit and vegetables, but not all fruits have the same health benefits. Some of the best fruits to eat for better health are the berries. Blueberries and cranberries are recommended for their content of fiber, fat burning polyphenols, and antioxidants. Avocado represents another very healthy fruit choice because of its healthy fat, high potassium concentration, fiber and vitamins content. Prunes, grapefruit, grapes, and apples are also good options.
