Most of the cleaners on the market today are full of toxic chemicals that are unsafe for humans and animals. Thankfully, there are various natural tips for cleaning your home that are safer for both you and your pets.

Cleaning your oven

Cleaning the oven is often time-consuming and requires you to position yourself where you are inhaling all the toxic fumes from your store bought cleaners. However, the easiest way to clean oven without chemicals is to use baking soda, salt and water. All you need to do is lightly wet the interior of the oven with a sponge, then use a mixture of ¾ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of salt and ¼ cup of water. Mix these three ingredients together until you get a thick paste you can spread along the top, bottom and sides of the oven. Let this mixture sit overnight and then gently remove the mixture by wiping it clean.

Removing grout stains

Grout is porous and extremely difficult to clean if you are not constantly on top of it. If you have some hard to clean grout, fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water, then saturate the entire area. After letting it sit for 3-5 minutes, begin scrubbing with a scrub brush or toothbrush and then rinse clean.

Polishing wood furniture

For wood furniture, an easy, natural way to polish is to add 1 cup of cold pressed olive oil to ½ cup of lemon juice. Once you mix the two thoroughly all you need to do is wipe it on your wooden surfaces. This mixture has the same effect of costly store bought furniture polish but is much more natural.

Killing weeds naturally

The best way to go about killing weeds naturally is to spray them with straight vinegar. However, you may need a large amount of vinegar if you have an overabundance of weeds. Fortunately, if you keep up on it, all you will need to do is spray each weed that sprouts up over time.

Getting rid of garden pests

If you are looking to get rid of pests in your garden, you can use a mixture that includes 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. of baking soda, 1 tsp. of bleach free dish soap and 2 quarts of water. Combine all these ingredients into a spray bottle and spray any plants in your garden that are infected with pests. One thing to remember is that using this spray will not only kill the pests that are bad for your garden, it will also kill the good ones. So, make sure you want to use this mixture before proceeding.

Finding natural ways to clean your home is not only the safest way to clean, it is also the most cost effective. Whether you are looking for ways to clean difficult areas inside your home or keep your garden free of weeds and pests, there is always a safe way to do it by using natural home cleaning remedies.
