Quick Tip 111 Make your own toothpaste
Having trouble making your
well intended resolutions stick?
There are a number of things you can do to
optimise your chances of succeeding and keeping you
inspired on your journey.

Be realistic
That isn’t to say don’t challenge yourself or be afraid to set the bar high, but if you know your schedule doesn’t facilitate the idea of six one hour sessions of exercise a week, reconsider and give yourself some
leeway. Maybe two days of one hour sessions and four days of half an hour will be more
practical, and these are still huge improvements on giving up and not doing anything at all.

Write about it, shout about it
You are psychologically more likely to stick to a goal or resolution if you
write it down on paper. Once you have committed to putting it out in the universe, you encourage yourself to bring it into reality, and therefore,
talking about your goals only helps to reinforce this. Whether it is a
sticky note slapped on your bathroom mirror or a
colour-coded mind map, do whatever excites you to make this tangible.

Break it down
Dedicate some time to working out exactly what
steps need to be taken in order to make this happen. It may sound laborious, but by breaking your overall target down into bite-sized chunks, you are making the pursuit far
more manageable and less overwhelming. Maybe today means you only need to send a well crafted email to that specific person. Maybe today you need to write a grocery list to actually stick to. Whatever the task, work out how you can inch towards it
every day.

Stay motivated
Clarify
why it is you want to achieve this particular goal, and really
daydream yourself into the life you will lead once you have completed it.
Visualisation and
meditation are great ways to do this, but equally so is sticking a
picture of that swimsuit you are going to look amazing in on your fridge door. Why not set yourself a daily alert on your phone that inspires you with a quote or a photo of your near-and-dear? Flood yourself with positivity and drive!
