The Truth About Rapid Weight Loss

Posted 2013-12-13 by Sharon Higsonfollow
You have seen the advertisements - Lose Weight Fast, or Lose 10 kilos in 10 days. So what do you have to do to lose this weight so quickly? Is it healthy for you?

That is a good question. Really, warning bells should be going off in your head when you hear these too good to be true promises.

Not a good weight loss method

Though it is tempting, the fact is that rapid weight loss is not sustainable. You didn't gain weight overnight. It was a process. It will be a process to get rid of it.

How good is it for your body to fill your stomach with something that looks like a giant ball of fiber that you can't digest? You are full and in fact you are starving yourself of important nutrients. I am not sure about your body but mine sure doesn't like to be messed with in this way.

Dont roll the dice with your health

I quit smoking ten years ago after sticking cigarettes in my mouth for thirty three years. Because I started shoveling food in my mouth to help me ignore the fact that there was no longer a cigarette attached to the end of my hand, I gained fourteen kilos within a couple of months.

Then I spent four years working in a fitness club, learned a lot and helped teach their weight loss classes.

But even knowing what I should do, I developed a bad habit of sitting in front of the television at dinner, eating without paying attention to how much I was putting in my mouth. My calorie intake was higher than my output of energy.

Even when I knew better I tried the weight loss promises. I wanted the quick fix. I wanted to look good. An assortment of these fast weight loss miracles had my system so messed up, none of it worked for me. My body rebelled. My insides didn't know if they were coming or going.

What you want to do is find the diets that help you to change the way you eat, that will help you lose slowly over a period of time, all the while eating meals that are well balanced.

An apple a day

Eat healthy, eat from the new food guide . Eat consciously and slowly. It takes twenty minutes for your body to realise it is full. Portion control is a key factor as well. You have all been out to restaurants, the portions can be huge. This can be a problem, especially if you are eating everything on your plate.

Sunflower seeds and nuts are good for you in moderation

If you know you are going out where there will appetisers before dinner how about filling up on a salad before you go out, skip the appetisers and just have your main meal. Eat less and you will still feel satisfied, yet not have eaten everything in sight.

Your body, like it or not, needs exercise. If you don't move it you will lose it in time. Your body needs muscle to keep it going. Pick something you like to do and do it. Vary your routine and keep yourself from getting bored with it all. You can walk, do yoga, run, cycle, row, whatever you can do, do it. Dance, bowl, box, play soccer, garden, do anything that will keep you active and moving for thirty minutes every day.

Be careful what you put in here

Diet and exercise go hand in hand. Balance out your life with exercise and portion control and your body will love you for it.
