Watermelon crushie

This is a simple and delicious crushie recipe which is perfect for a hot day when you might not feel much like eating, and just want something to help you cool down.

The watermelon has a high water content and contains potassium which can be lost in sweat on a hot day, especially if you have been working out.

Ingredients:
1 cup ice cubes
1 cup watermelon
1/2 cup apple juice

Method:
  • Cut watermelon into chunks, being careful to remove as many seeds as possible.

  • Place ice cubes along with watermelon pieces and apple juice into blender.

  • Blend until ice is crushed and watermelon is mixed, but not so much that it is pulverised into a mush.

  • Note: if you don't have a blender which is capable of crushing ice, you can try this instead - wrap ice in a clean tea towel and whack with a hammer or similar until crushed into slithers, then put in the blender along with other ingredients to finish off.
